I'm glad this Subreddit exists
I just wanted to say that I am glad that this subreddit exists and has provided a lot of stress relief to me. My husband and I got married right before the pandemic, and I've always been on the fence about having children. After seeing what all my friends/co-workers with children have gone through this last year having to deal with childcare during the pandemic, it honestly hasn't exactly highlighted all the positives about being a parent. I'm 33 and am in this space where I really enjoy my life as it is and never felt like anything was missing (especially pre-pandemic) but now I'm starting to stress out and realize if my husband and I are going to have a kid, now is better than later. (At least according to my gyno.) The idea of having 1 kid seems so much more palatable and congruous with our lifestyle (we are city dwellers and have pretty active social lives) and I think would allow us to still keep our hobbies and allow the child to fit into our lives, as opposed to the other way around. So thanks for all the encouragement around the OAD idea as I try to figure out what it is I really want.
