Portland OR vs Portland ME?

These two are towards the top of my list. I used to live in NH, so I'm somewhat aware of overall culture and climate of the area, but I don't have any experience actually living there specifically. I have zero experience with Portland. Other than visiting a sibling in Seattle, I don't have enough information about what's it like to actually live in Portland Oregon.

I know Portland OR is a lot bigger and some other basic differences but I want a more nuanced perspective from people that have lived in those places.

A little about me: mixed black guy, mid 30s, salary definitely on the lower end, looking to make friends, date, and hopefully live somewhere for a good while at least. Yes, I already know both places are very white. That doesn't bother me at all. I'm more concerned about how I'll be treated and how the social situation is.

Although being car-free would be ideal, I'm not holding my breath. And from little I know, both places have access to awesome nature, which is important to me. And yes, I can tolerate Maine winters, like I said, I used to live in NH.

Just need information that I can't get from Wikipedia or whatever from people that have some first hand experiences.
