How do you personally find the experience of playing Wii games on a Wii U?

My SO loves playing her Wii but it’s getting more and more impractical as TV’s no longer have the correct ports, I am tempted to buy her a second hand Wii u which would let her play Wii games on our main HD tv

and also give her access to a small but solid selection of games on the Wii U
