Trying to get a subcompact SUV for 12k
I'm looking at used cars, and I know my options are limited. I know that small SUVs are generally despised, so here are my reasons for wanting one (and if you have a better option that would fit my needs better, by all means suggest it): 1.) I had a sonic and loved the visibility. I need to be able to see well. A little SUV would be like my Sonic, but an upgrade! I think. 2.) Mileage on CUVs looks pretty good. Not like a true subcompact, but good. 3.) Headroom and higher off the ground. 4.) I do a mix of outdoor work and suburban commuting. I don't need a full-on SUV, but a sedan is slightly less than ideal (and again, visibility).
So anyway.
I have looked at a Chevy Trax, the Honda CRV, some crossover Jeeps, and similar models. What cars can ya'll recommend? I am not willing to go higher than my budget (sorry). I also wanna know what mileage is still considered workable for different cars (like I've heard CRVs can run for 200k+ miles, which is cool). What years are best? Etc. Any advice and experiences with these cars would help so much. I've only owned one car, and I loved it, flaws and all. It was so basic really anything will be an upgrade. Except a Ford. I am not doing Ford.
Edit: I would like to be able to have this car for as long as possible.
