Tell me why I shouldn't buy a Nissan Altima
I've been searching the post history in this sub and Nissan gets A LOT of hate. I'm just wondering how much of it is warranted and how much is people parroting stuff from the past. I'm pricing out mid size sedans and, for me, the Altima is the best looking of the bunch. Plus I can actually purchase one at or under MSRP. It might not handle as well as the Accord or be as reliable as the Camry - but reviews for it are overall good. I'm a dad now and I'm just looking for something that is reliable, has good gas mileage, and is comfortable to drive on the highway.
Check out these reliability metrics for the 2023 Altima:
RepairPal: 4/5 - "Above Average"
Consumer Reports: "We expect the 2023 Altima will be more reliable than the average new car."
J.D. Power: 84/100 - Very Good
I understand Nissan had issues with Jatco CVTs in the past which gave them a bad reputation. But need this follow them forever? I can't seem to find any recent issues people have had with the current gen CVTs. Am I wrong? Am I crazy for thinking about spending 30k on a Altima SR? Thoughts?
