Stories where threats are like universal or galaxy level are rarely good

The sheer scale takes away a lot of the feeling of pertinence. When the story is on a city or country or at most a world scale it feels more real it feels personal as to why something is happening on the other end when it’s like cosmic or godlike threats it feels like the writer is just in a pissing contest with themself for who can be like “well actually he eats planets for lunch or his sneeze could evaporate the Milky Way” obviously there are exceptions in my opinion stuff like invincible does threats on such a grand scale really well but stuff like dragon ball z just turns it into a kid in the back yard saying well ur attack didn’t hit cuz i have a forcefield level of meh.
