Passport refused because of switched surnames
Hi lovely humans,
I've a huge problem. I got my British citizenship this year and applied for my British passport.
I have double nationality: Brazilian, where I was born and raised, and Italian by descent.
I came into the UK and got my settled status all through my Italian passport.
However, my surnames are switched in the Brazilian and Italian passports.
Brazilian passport: Name + Mum's surname + Dad's surname
Italian passport: Name + Dad's surname + Mum's surname
They are the exact same surnames just in different orders.
I've lived in the UK for seven years with my name registered like it is in the Italian passport.
So I ordered my UK passport and asked for my name to be like in the Italian passport. But now I got an e-mail from the Home Office asking me to change my name in the Brazilian passport so they could issue the British passport.
I feel silly because I should've just sent them the Italian passport - I created a problem for myself. But they did ask for all my passports.
I can't change my name in the Brazilian passport - I have loads of documents there, it would be insane and would cause me numerous headaches. It's my home country.
Can I do the application again and just submit the Italian passport? Would they have my previous submission on record? Or does someone else have a different suggestion?
Thank you
