Why does everyone else turn so slow

I don’t know if this was the first time someone turned don’t quote me on this but why did Shane turn so fast but everyone else in the show seems to take 10-20 minutes to turn in my opinion either they are starting to become immune to the virus or Shane was just more infected also I haven’t read the comics so don’t judge me if I sound like an idiot
