Recently banned from Tesco for “stealing” 2 bananas

At the checkout, I went to the find item menu but had forgotten to add the bananas to the basket. Without realising, I paid and started making my way out. I was stopped at the exit by an employee and he asked “Are you not gonna pay for those?”. I was obviously stunned and looked at him confused. He then said “I saw you went to the find item but did not add the bananas.” I just went “Oh sorry , I must have forgotten to select them.” It obviously sounded like I was trying to play dumb but in my mind I was just thinking that it is something I would do nowadays since I have a pretty important deadline at my uni that has been consuming my thoughts. I paid for the bananas and right before I exited he stopped me again and said I was banned from this particular store. At first I thought he was joking but then the security approached me as well . He kept saying sth along the lines of “it was a choice and ur choices have consequences, regardless of being just 2 bananas” I kept apologising and explaining that I had honestly forgotten to select the items. It was a short interaction but I definitely remember him cuz I have been shopping there for 3 years. He did not ask for id nor did he mention he remembers me so idk how this will be enforced. There are many other stores around but this Tesco is relatively closer and cheaper so it is bothering me that I got banned after 3 years of shopping there. I am not sure how to deal with it, should I talk to the manager, should I confront him again? Reddit plz help.

(No hate against the employee as well, he did an excellent job keeping an eye on the checkouts. I have worked in retail before and it is not as easy as it seems. Just contemplating if giving a ban is necessary)
