How relevant was The Drew Carey Show when it aired?
I remember The Drew Carey Show (1995 - 2004) as a great sitcom at the time. It had an interesting cast, was perhaps ahead of its time in its humor, weren't afraid to do crazy "one off" shows or break the fourth wall (way before Community), had a slew of memorable theme songs, and had a decently long run.
Then it sort of seemed to disappear from the public consciousness. I don't really hear people bring it up that much like Friends, Frasier, and The Office, etc. I think it only started to be available to stream a few months ago, but on some smaller service.
Do I misremember how popular it was at the time? Does it not hold up?
