White Experience with Racism

Recently got into a discussion with my wife (we're both white) about her childhood, how she grew up really poor in a predominantly black/latino community. Anytime the topic of white privilege/black oppression comes up she feels really jaded due to her experiences with being a victim of pretty racist bullying as a child.

It's been made further worse from wanting to talk about those experiences later on in life and immediately shamed about how she couldn't possibly know what experiencing racism is like. She strongly feels her whole experience is stigmatized and not validated.

I'm looking for a book(s) written by a white person dealing with similar experiences of racism and then being able to move past those prejudices. If she sees her experience has been written about, she will feel a lot more validated and more open to having further discussions.

Thank you.
