Was Squid Game really based on Brothers home?

I found out about Brothers home(Hyeongje bokjiwon) through the internet where ppl started saying that Squid Game was based on the tragedy. I read some articles about it and none of them said anything about playing children's games to survive, but I see a lot of documentaries saying that they did?

One of the similarities I did find however was that one of the survivors is named "Choi Seung-woo" and is sounds really similar to "Cho Sang-woo"

Please help me I'm confused.
