Can you divorce?

I married a random npc so I could adopt kids, and then I realized that all you need is a house to do that so... And now all he does is ask for the armor I have unloaded in my house.. I can't get food or money from him, it's like he's stuck.. So.. Can i kick his freeloading ass out or do I have to kill him?
