Would it be ok to take public transportations from the airport to La Jolla after 10pm?

I'm a male student currently studying in Indiana and planning to fly to San Diego for travel during this weekend. Since my flight is expected to land around 10pm and my friend is living in La Jolla, I am looking for a best way to get there. While I can see that the trolley seems like a fair option with reasonable price, I'm not sure if it is a recommended option for me that late.
I'm also not sure about what to take on the date of departure as my flight departs at 6:40 am as well. I would be staying in downtown hotel before departure.
For both cases, would it be fine to take a trolley, or should I just take Uber?
