Linear mixed effects model

Hi all,

I have a very basic understanding of stats. I am trying to run a mixed effects model for a study of relationship between NDVI/Precipitation. Normally, I would use a linear regression but my data is not normally distributed and also has autocorrelation. Does anyone have suggestions on how to run this in R? I have tried multiple tutorials but nothing seems to work. My data consists of Date, NDVI monthly maximum value, and monthyl average Precip. It spans from 1990-2022.
