Did you actually “push” during labor?
FTM here— I saw a video recently and a woman was describing her birthing story; she said you should let your body do its thing and ignore the doctors when they say to push. The body’s contractions will push the baby out, all you have to do is control your breath work. How true is this?
Edit: woah, thank you everyone for sharing your responses! It’s nice being able to read everyones experiences, whether you were someone who “pushed” (which vast majority of people seem to have done) or you’re someone where the body did most of the work for you. I definitely plan to educate myself more about labor; also for the record, I never had any intention to ignore medical doctors, but the video I saw did make me curious about others experiences.
