Are pitbulls good with/tolerable to cats?

Getting a pitbull is my dream, but my fiance and I have two cats already, and I worry about the pitbull being too rough with them or something. My fiance is leaning more towards a golden retriever or something similar, and maybe that’s a better option, just wondering if anyone has a pitbull and cats and how that went for them. Thanks yall in advance, we’re just trying to be responsible and keep everyone in mind. :)
