Feeding street/stray dogs.
I shared this in my society's WA group. Sharing here as well.
I've observed this debate for over an year or two now. When I was a kid, I always wanted a pet/dog. I decided that I'll get a dog when I have my own place to live. But after coming here(Noida), I found that the scene is entirely different.
There are street/stray dogs in the tier 2 and 3 cities as well, but never have I ever seen any facade over them. People name them, feed them, and some even play with them, but that just remains on the ROAD. They don't bring those dogs in the society and/or inside the Mohalla's areas where people live.
Not a single case I've witness in my hometown where people are fighting over street dogs. If you want to love them, just go on the street and do that, simple as that. And that's what people do in the local areas of tier 2 and 3 cities. It's hard to believe that those people are more mature on these little things more than the so-called educated and sophisticated people of tier 1 cities.
Street dogs here, ARE aggressive. Anyone who's denying it, he/she shouldn't. Maybe it's related to Covid that people started feeding these street dogs. Now they've started working again and stopped feeding them, so these dogs are getting aggressive everywhere. I don't know, I maybe wrong, I just read something like this an year ago somewhere.
There are about 10-15 dogs outside the logix area when you go to the Shahadra market. I go to the Meraki gym, and it's become so COMMON that a dog or a group of dogs starts to follow me. Many people feed these dogs at night on the open road there, maybe that's why, and I have no problem with that. But when a dog or a group of dogs starts to follow you, no matter how much you love/loved dogs, you get scared a little bit, what if they attack.
I get that you're an animal lover and you have a valid point to feed these dogs. But it gets serious when it comes to the human safety, especially the children and elderly people. These street dogs are getting AGRESSIVE, ADMIT it. There's a recent video on IndiaSpeaks on Reddit. I think, it's of RG Residency. Look at the female and how is she talking, reacting, and getting aggressive.
No one is stopping you to feed these dogs. But we're living in a GATED society. There are kids playing in the open areas and these dogs are getting aggressive, no one should deny that. Just take your feeding bowls outside the society, and feed them. I don't think anyone will have a problem with that.
Just have some decency about human safety as well. At least for kids and elderly. We're getting so many news for the past two years about these street dogs' attacks. Are they fake? No, they're not.
E.g. I was in the Ecociti's market ground few days back and a lady with her little kid(probably daughter) was climbing the stairs(the right side ones) and suddenly 3 dogs chased/barked on them. 2 guys were there and they stopped them.
I thought, what if these 2 guys weren't there? The kid was so little, anything could've happened.
When people ask these animal lovers to adopt them, they give a reasson that if you feed a homeless person, would you adopt him too? They have a valid reason to feed these dogs and can have a sensible argument/debate on it. But these so-called animal lovers always give this type of bullshit reasons to feed these dogs in the open areas where people are living.
You're doing a great work. Keep doing it, but because of it other people should not be bothered, especially when it comes to the safety point of view. I think at this point, every gated society has feeding shelters, and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD use those shelters, instead of fighting with your bullshit reasons.
I didn't want to be part of this debate, at all. I just shared my opinion without any bias. Hope, people will understand.
