Rhode Island Towns

Heading to Providence for a new job and looking for the most "New England" town in Rhode Island to live in without a very long commute into Providence. Loving small towns, white-steepled church, town commons, walkable Main St or downtown, just looking for a quintessential New England town with snow, fall foliage, harvest festivals, Christmas parades, and all the New England things. No family yet, but will be expecting little ones in the next 5 or so years. Suggestions?
