The LeCap Boost: Does King LeBron Play Better After Dropping Absolute Bull? The Tactic LeBron James Doesn't Want Us To Know.

For someone considered among the best ballers around, my KING might as well be a fortune teller with how prophetic some of his outlandish claims prove to be. From claiming he knew Kobe would hit 81 points to being a Migos fan BEFORE THEY EVEN MADE MUSIC, he has just the most ridiculous penchant for spouting out the most unnecessary lies.

But what if he's been fooling us all?

What if he distracts his opponents with the most stupid-sounding statement to catch them unprepared while he prepares himself for a MONSTER game as a pre-game ritual? I might just have found out his secret.

NOTE: This is a joke post (smth I only did for my research/statistics analyzing course as homework), DO NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!!!

Hypothesis: LeBron's game improves right after an outrageous claim.

Test: Extracting Lebron's performances following a wild statement and cross-comparing them to his career averages to see if there's a visible difference in his game.

Methodology and Steps:

  1. Find and take note of notable career statistics to gauge his average across his entire stint as an NBA player (Courtesy of CraftedNBA).
  2. I found some absurd comments and looked at his statistics in the immediate game afterward.
  3. Compared his numbers in those games to his averages to determine if his performance visibly improved right after capping to hell and back.

Quotes:

"I was listening to Migos in 2010"
"I knew Kobe would drop 81"
"I predicted the first play of the Super Bowl"
"I read the first page of 'The Godfather' multiple times"
"I knew Luka was special after watching one clip"
"I watched Liverpool's comeback vs. Barcelona live"

Stats and Analysis:

Metrics considered:

  • Points per game (PPG)
  • Field Goal Percentage (FG%)
  • Assists per game (APG)
  • Rebounds per game (RPG).

Career stats: PPG - 27 | Career FG% - 50.7% | Career RPG - 7.5 | Career APG - 7.4

I'll now list down his statistics from each game to cross-reference them with the averages mentioned above:

LeCap incident Points in the Next Game FG% in the Next Game Assists in the Next Game Rebounds in the Next Game
"I was listening to Migos in 2010" 27 56.5% 6 8
"I knew Kobe would drop 81" 36 58.1% 7 8
"I predicted the first play of the Super Bowl" 28 51.2% 9 12
"I read the first page of 'The Godfather' multiple times" 33 57.9% 9 10
"I knew Luka was special after watching one clip" 29 60% 8 7
"I watched Liverpool's comeback vs. Barcelona live" 44 68.5% 10 8

Analysis:

  • His PPG increased in 5/6 and was only average in one, with the most notable increase being his gorgeous 44 points after the Liverpool claim. +17 points better than normal.
  • Performed +8% better after a LeCap on Field Goals. Biggest improvement was Liverpool, again, shooting a sensual 68.5% from the field.
  • Was above average in all except one game, resulting in a +1.3 overperformance. Most notable in the game following his psychic-esque sporting prediction, with him getting a mouth-watering +4.5 more than expected.
  • Flucuated a bit more than previous statistics, but still ended up with a (roughly) throbbing +0.7 in assists in LeCap games.

Conclusion:

Based on pure, raw data, it is scientificially PROVEN (it isn't but let me have this) that the "LeCap boost" is not just an arbitrary phenomenon I thought of one night. The numbers don't lie: LeBron plays better whenever he says the most superfluous thing for no reason at all, with the numbers showing a consistent improvement in his game whenever he dons the LeCap... well, cap.

In conclusion, LeBron's secret weapon hasn't been his longevity, his mentality, ball knowledge, his dreamy eyes, toned-muscles, built legs... sorry, I got sidetracked. His deadly tactic this whole time is his disarming lies, ones he uses to take his opponents attention off the game to mock him, allowing my King to capitalize and catch them unprepared for his greatness. Thanks for coming to my random ramble.

Edit: I got an A- grade on this from my teacher. He said I could've used season averages rather than career averages, which I do see the reason for in hindsight. That got me A flat, though. As for why I got deducted further to A-... I'm assuming it's because he's a Jordan fan.

I also got inspiration to make this type of 'content' from Akirakimbo's videos on YouTube, so check them out! https://www.youtube.com/@Akirakimbo
