Facial Feminization Surgery for My MTF Partner—I have feelings/uncertainty

My MTF partner is planning to have surgery to change her face. I’m supportive of this, but unsure, because I have zero experience in this area. This sub was super supportive several months ago when I had questions about telling our kids about her transition, so I’m coming to you again with hope and love.

Questions for anyone who can shed light on this experience:

1) Was it a shock to see the face you loved change so dramatically, and if so, how did you deal?

2) How was the caretaking aspect? I’m a little squeamish about wounds, to the point where I can’t even look up examples.

3) Is there anything else I should think about ahead of time? I would like to not be surprised by the process or the aftermath.

I desperately want to support my partner, but I’m not super happy about any of this and my poker face is crap, so pretending is impossible. If anyone has some positivity to throw my way, I can then share it with her!
