Thoughts from a first year fan
I'm Canadian (living up in Ottawa) and I just started cheering for the Vikings this year (in the summer so I'm not a band waggoner). I gotta say, despite the embarrassing end to the season, it's been really fun to seriously watch and enjoy football this year. I've always liked watching football but never had a specific team I cheered for.
I basically chose the Vikings at random, bought myself a hat and that was that. It was really fun watching them (mostly) kick ass this season and it seems like there's a really bright future (until next year's playoffs). I've been a Toronto Maple Leafs fan all my life, so I know what it's like to watch your team have an amazing season and then blow their brains out in the post season. I think I was meant to cheer for the Vikings.
Also, my last thought is that judging by most of the people I have seen in this subreddit, Vikings fans are some of the classier and more fun fans in the league. Lots of positivity, very little toxicity and tons of self depreciating humour (if we don't laugh, we'll cry). That's all to say, I'm glad I'm cheering dor this team, and I really hope to make it out to Minnesota to watch a game in person sometime soon! SKOL!
TLDR: First year cheering for this team and I love them and this fanbase even though we're all one more Darnold sack away from developing lethal alcoholism.
