100% agree. A full reboot doesn’t make sense.

Iron Man wasn’t even that valuable of a brand before the MCU. Who would’ve thought a solo Iron Man movie could’ve made over $1B? A full reboot will just destroy the opportunity for Marvel to elevate other characters.

One benefit the MCU has over the comics is organic growth. Deaths are more permanent. Characters retire because the actors retire. We’re not gonna have Tony Stark looking young and virile after half a century, nor a Holocaust survivor strutting around in underpants showing off his six pack in the 21st century (unless there’s a lore-friendly reason).

Continuing the MCU also means we get to explore a wider range of villains. We’re not gonna have Cap fight Hydra again and again, nor Spider-Man fight goblin again and again. Sure, it’s unfortunate that Tony Stark didn’t get to fight his classic nemesis Mandarin, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a great movie about Ironheart fighting Xu Xialing and her Ten Rings.

And a full reboot sends a bad message to actors. They might no longer have actors like Florence Pugh willing to act as Yelena since they now know their character has zero future within the franchise.

In conclusion, I think the MCU should not reboot because their generation of legacy characters are gone. They should continue to develop new characters. A full reboot only makes sense if and only if the general audiences completely lose interest in them.
