How Does a Muslim Convert’s Faith Affect Family Interactions in Malaysia?

Hi Malaysian redditors, I come from a Christian family, and my sister recently converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim. I’m trying to understand how her new faith might affect our family interactions, especially in Malaysia, where religious rules can be strict.

I’ve heard that She cannot inherit from our parents under Islamic law. Is this absolute, or are there legal workarounds? Beside that, I read somewhere that some muftis say she cannot attend a Christian wedding if it’s held in a church. Does this mean she can’t even be there for a sibling’s big day?

I’m curious like how strictly do Malaysian Muslims follow these rules in real life? Are there other things we should be aware of when navigating family events, holidays, or even everyday interactions?

Would love to hear from anyone who knows more on this topic!
