Do you see that? Coming in the distance? It seems… familiar, and yet somehow, new and different. What could it be???

It’s getting closer now! It looks like...

It might be…

Yes, it is! It's the 2022 New Year's LoseIt Challenge!!!

2022, we welcome you, with all the excitement we can muster after the last few years left a lot of us burnt out and pessimistic about what is yet to come. But, if you were thinking there was nothing to look forward to, think again! Because the first LoseIt Challenge of the year is kicking off on January 7th, 2022!!!

(cue the roaring applause)

Sign-ups will open 11AM CST on January 7th, and all are welcome to join. If you’re new to this whole thing and wondering if you should sign-up, the answer is “YES!” This is a space for anyone, regardless of fitness or weight-loss goals.

The specifics of the challenge will be announced alongside our challenge theme on Jan. 7th, so in the meantime drop your best guess about what the theme is in the comments below, and keep reading if you have questions about how this works!

What are LoseIt Challenges?

This challenge is a team-based "competition" that will last for 6 weeks. During the challenge you will be assigned to one of 6 teams, set a weight-loss goal for the challenge, and then weigh in weekly, working to be at or beyond that goal by the end of the challenge.

Each week, in addition to their weight, challenge members can choose to log their steps and activity minutes. Teams will compete in friendly head to head battles weekly for step totals and activity minute totals. This is optional, but encouraged!

Every Friday there will be a new post in r/loseit and r/LoseitChallenges with links and instructions for each week's weight in and activities. Your team captains will also share all the information you need on your team’s Discord server.

How do I sign up?

Right now, you don’t.There will be a sign-up post that goes up with detailed instructions about how to sign-up on January 7th. This post is just to make sure everyone knows it's coming.

r/loseitchallenges will be closed a few days prior to the new challenge starting. It will not open again until the sign-up post goes live. You haven’t been blocked, don’t worry! We’re just trying to keep the theme a secret until it’s time to bring in the masses! Check back at 11AM CST on January 7th, and you’ll be able to access the page!

If you have any questions, problems, concerns, ideas, or just want to drop us all a line, please use the message the challenge admin feature, which you can find in the r/LoseitChallenges sidebar. Responding to this thread is great, but ultimately if you want to make sure all of us read it, the message the challenge admin feature is the way to go.
