Grocery experience in Switzerland.
Wanted to share something I saw while visiting a town in Switzerland that really put our situation in perspective. Before I start - One of (if not) the largest grocers in Switzerland is called Coop.
I was in Zug, Switzerland and on the walk back to the train station, passed by a large Coop location, aptly named Coop City. Outside their location was a square with a mini funfair set up, and filled with a ton of families with children. They had everything.. mini train, BBQ, face painting, all the things you’d expect. Folks looked pretty happy to be there and the event looked like no detail was missed.
It made me feel like this is how a huge grocer should operate - engaged with the community they serve. I was inside another Coop location and it’s very clean, products super fresh with a focus on things being Swiss produced. It made me wonder how many Swiss feel poorly about Coop vs. How many Canadians feel poorly about Loblaws.
Anyways.. just another way that Canada is a sad place to be now. Highly recommend everyone go to Switzerland if they can. The most lovely country in the world.
As an aside, I’ve have not step foot into a Loblaws location since February of this year and I plan to never again. So grateful for this group!
