Judo beginner here, have some questions/need some help
Hello reddit, a judo beginner here.
I don't really use reddit much so forgive me if I break some secret reddit rules. Had to use an older account i had because you needed at least 10 karma to post 😢.
For some context, I have been doing judo twice a week for about 4 months now, and I am at the yellow belt level for the BJA. I am really REALLY enjoying judo so far but recently I have been feeling "weak" after randori sessions in the sense that I feel like i cant pull off any throws/sweeps/moves. Everytime me and my opponent grab each other, i get handled like a toy and even if i resist i still get thrown anyways. Even up against beginners who started at the same time as me, it is a very rare occasion for me to land an ippon on them. I have started to develop a mindset where i feel like the only way i can possibly "win" is if i go to the gym and get some muscles or something. Admittedly, i am not the most well built person so i do believe going to the gym would help my but i would like to ask for some tips here. Like are there any footwork drills i can practice on my own (i'd say my footwork is slow, not really a sporty person), any tips in general, whether i should be constantly aggressive ( i'd say im quite passive). Feel free to give any tips or lecture me im all ears.
EDIT : I'd also like to thank every commenter in advance as i dont think i would be able to come up with a good reply to each one 🙏🙇♂️
