Torque Testing
I have the Hercules compact 1/2” impact wrench and the 1/4” impact driver. I keep the impact wrench in my truck just in case of an emergency and have confirmed it can remove the 140ft-lbs lug nuts, but got curious to see if it’s actually more powerful than the impact driver and decided to test them in a very non-scientific way.
I tightened the nut with the driver using a 2aH battery, then used the wrench to remove it with the same 2aH battery. It took 2-3 seconds for the wrench to break it loose.
Next, I tightened the nut with wrench using a 4aH battery, then used the driver with the 2aH battery to remove it. It might’ve taken 1-2 seconds for the driver to break it loose.
After that, I used the driver with the 4aH battery to tighten the nut, then used the wrench with the same 4aH battery to break it loose. It didn’t break it loose after 5-6 seconds so I stopped to check everything to make sure it was on mode 3. It finally broke it loose on the 2nd burst after like 3-4 seconds.
Based on this, I’m a little disappointed even though the wrench can handle the purpose I got it for. Would you guys return the impact wrench and pickup another driver?
