Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider on what killed the genre

What killed “hair” metal?

It is a question that has long been debated and most often ends with Kurt Cobain plunging a grunge flag into the grave of the genre.

But is that what REALLY killed the most popular brand of rock in the 1980’s?

Grunge music definitely CONTRIBUTED to the disappearance of a lot of those bands but I have always thought that it goes much deeper than that.

It was “oversaturation” that was most to blame. The record companies saw $$$ and signed every band that LOOKED the part even if the talent wasn’t there.

In fact… grunge itself died in much the same way. The record companies saw money in bands that sounded like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and AIC.

Hence the reason we got drivel like Creed, Nickelback, Lifehouse, and Candlebox.

Anyways… why don’t I let Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider explain it!

Do you agree???
