4 months avocado tree. What can I do? What went wrong?

For context I live in NYC. My dad just repotted and put the tree inside 3 days ago. My hallway stinks like garbage so I'm not sure if something's wrong? Also is that mold on the soil and leaves? Any help or info would be appreciated.
