I actually enjoyed this season…
Okay I know it’s been popular for the longest time to trash all over FB for their flops, of which there have been MANY. But I actually enjoyed S10 and think it did some things right.
For a start, this season felt like it had very little filler and for me that’s a good thing. In past seasons there were moments where you’re forced into a conversation with an islander you’re not pursuing, and the convo was so mundane that I found myself eventually just tapping through it. But that wasn’t the case for me this season, I was pretty engaged throughout all of it.
Secondly, I liked the art style this season. Sure Sofia’s face looked melted, but she was a cxnt anyway so her looking busted was appropriate. And yeah Ethan, Hayden and Ava kinda looked related because of the reused lip shapes.. but Ethan is /one of/ the most attractive boys they’ve given us so far in my opinion.
I also didn’t mind that we didn’t get to couple up for a while, it basically gave us longer to play the field before committing to anyone.
I see people roasting the dialogue & writing.. and I honestly don’t think it’s any lesser quality than previous seasons. Seasons 1-3 were great, especially 2 (RIP), but the dialogue was never top tier, I think people just have a habit of romanticising the past.
I will admit though, Casa did mark a decline in quality. After getting back into the main villa, the season did begin to feel rushed. Given the fact it was cut down to 36 episodes recently, I’m curious if there was some ‘behind the scenes’ reason for this or if it was always planned since the beginning of S10.
My BIGGEST COMPLAINT, is our MC. They added a couple of cute hairs at the end and the fashion did get a little better in the later half of the season.. but man, creating an attractive MC during the first half of this season was a challenge. I hated the gaslighting from the other islanders, hyping me up after I just changed into what looks like a $2 dress from Temu. Being able to create an objectively attractive MC is important in my opinion because it’s the one character we have to stare at the entire time we’re playing… plus putting together a fit should be part of the fun. Don’t even get me started on that basic mannequin pose.. they got the nerve letting us refer to ourselves as the “main character” while sassing someone and standing like that wearing a potato sack.
But overall I actually think this was a pretty fun season. Not the best but definitely not the worst either (I’m looking at you, Ex in the Villa).
