It finally happened to me
The fountain pen I was using rolled off a 60cm-high side table while uncapped, and landed on the floor nib-first. It happens to everyone; today was just my rite of passage, and after a decade of FP use (and several capped drops).
The good news: this is a 0.3 (F) nib on a Platinum Perpanep. WHEW đ
I can replace it via a donor Preppy unit, or have the nib fixed along with 2 other problematic pens due for a nibmeister visit. But this nib just glided on both FP-friendly and -unfriendly paper, and writing with it was so much fun. đ
