Disqualified based on high rates before screening?
Hi folks. Would appreciate your insight. For expert networks that allow their experts to set a rate but adjust it later, could the experts be disqualified from consideration and subsequent screening based on the set rate?
Here's an example: Let's say that I set my rate to $1000. Based on the extent of my expertise for the project, I would lower my rate. For instance, upon reviewing the project and questions I feel I know 60% of the topic very well but too removed from the remaining 40% to offer in-depth perspectives. As such, I indicate that in my responses and would adjust my rate to $600. From the EN standpoint, while I may be identified as a potential expert for their client's project, could the client have set specific guidelines around rates---such as not to exceed $800--- that would disqualify me? As such, I would be missing out on opportunities.
Would appreciate this groups insights. Thanks in advance!
