Why is my house using 6kwh every hour and every day?
Hey everyone, looking for some help here.
Just bought a brand new house and the first month electric bill was high but I chugged it up to being used by the builder since it wasn't a full billing cycle. The second billing cycle the house used almost 3,800 Kw for just the month of January while unoccupied.
To give more context here, this is in Washington state in an area with lots of snow, but the house uses gas for both the water heater and the furnace. No electric car has been plugged in for charging or anything of that sort.
There is heat tape on the roof but I disconnected that for afew hours to monitor the usage and it only dropped about 1.2 Kw.
I tried to turn off afew more circuits in the breaker but can't get the usage to drop down under 3 Kw every hour and i can't figure out what it is.
I did find something buzzing right when we bought the house but I couldn't figure out what it was for. Here's a link to a video I recorded of it and I attached some pictures.
