Today my screen on voilamart ebike kit shut off and won't come back on. After 2+ yrs trouble free

Well i have been careful to avoid the rain for 2 and a half yrs with my Voilamart ebike kit. Today i rode home about 3 miles and wasn't raining but a good amount of water still on the road from just raining earlier. So the water splashes up from the tire. I have gorilla tape around stuff as good as i can to protect it but still not waterproof. Anyways as soon as i pull in the driveway my screen dies and now it won't turn back on. No spark when i connect the battery too. Does the controller on this kit just go out sometimes or is this more likely a wire got shorted out from getting wet somewhere? Any ideas where to check first?
