Friendly reminder to my fellow 20+ disc baggers; your discs are likely a lot more versatile than your bag allows them to be

Before I go too far I want to make it clear from the get-go that this post is not criticizing the choice to carry 20+ discs in a bag. As I alluded to in my title, I am wholeheartedly one of those people (closer to 30 if I'm being honest) and there are plenty of halfway decent reasons to do it. The reason I default to the most is that I like to throw multiple shots off the tee (as long as it's not backing people up) and testing a variety of lines is fun. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter how many discs you bag as long as you're out there achieving whatever it is you've set out to do that round.

Over the weekend I played a challenge round where I told myself "one of each speed class and my putting putter" and nothing more. Or in more concrete terms, a throwing putter, an OS approach disc, a midrange, a fairway, and a distance driver. The discs I happened to choose were Watt, Zone, Buzzz, Votum, Destroyer.

It felt a little weird at first, but after just a few holes I realized one primary thing about the two discs I used off of almost every tee, my Buzzz and Votum. I found that (for me personally) it is SO MUCH EASIER for me to find a rhythm with my release point when I am dealing with the same stability disc from shot to shot. Even if I change how much hyzer/anhyzer I'm going for, I've found a greater sense of confidence that it's going to come out where/how I want it to when I'm reaching for the same one or two discs every round. I ended up throwing numerous better lines with this bare bones bag than I consistently scored with discs that I used to swear up and down were better suited for the hole.

Most of us in the 20+ disc bag club are fully aware that we don't NEED all of the discs we carry. But being reminded of it now and then is a humbling and necessary experience for my stubborn ass from time to time. I'm not gonna be reverting to a smaller bag or anything, but in terms of scoring rounds, I think I want to make a legit effort to focus on just 3-4 discs as my "main" options and only deviate from them when absolutely necessary.
