7 month old Cocker diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia

Hi all, our girl has been xrayed today and the vet described it as “the worst case of hip dysplasia she has seen in a long time” and then jokingly called our dog a “dud” to lighten the mood. We have a referral to a specialist to determine which surgery is more appropriate, an FHO or a double hip replacement. I’m hopeful they’ll advise us on any non-surgical treatments as well. I’ve purchased glucosamine and omega 3 supplements already.

Curious as to whether anyone here has had a similar experience and can share? She mentioned a rough cost of $8000-$10000 per hip… which, we can do, but it will drastically impact our financial situation. But she’s still soooo young.

Has anyone managed a bad case of HD successfully?
