Why Dolby?

Unless I'm listening to classical music on cassette, which I stopped doing many years ago, everything sounds better to me with Dolby off, including tapes recorded with Dolby. It has always been so. Normal tape hiss isn't a significant problem with pop/rock/rap/country unless it was recorded too low, because silences and quiet passages are rare (loudness wars). I just don't hear the difference between Dolby and turning down the treble knob. Your mileage may vary.
