Brighter Shores Information Update 2/27

The Community Manager sat down with the community on Discord to answer questions today:

  • Samuel is shifting into a content developer role to help the team create more content. He is still our Community Manager, but with split duties. He will be helping develop quests. When the playerbase rises again he may go back to a CM-only role.

  • The Combat Rework Q&A is expected to come out next week now. It is ready to go, just needs Andrew's proofing to make sure all answers are current. He's out of the office today and doing a mandatory safety training tomorrow.

  • Combat capes post level 2000 will have more colors added. These new capes are already available to the dev team in their private build.

  • Weapons will eventually be able to show outside of combat, when they get back to doing QoL updates. Same with tool transmogs.

  • Team is actively working on the combat beta and pushing features to it on a regular basis.

  • Update plan is: Combat Rework 1 > New Quests > Combat Rework 2 (skill trees)

  • New quest 1 is already done, finished, and ready to launch. But will happen after combat rework 1 arrives.

  • Progress update - half the team is working on completing the second quest. The first quest is now finished and ready for release. The other half of the team is continuing work on the combat rework. Samuel is now working on more quests.

  • Team is unlikely to ever release quests that need 200+ in any profession

  • The team sees the purpose of skilling past 200 as "mainly cosmetic"

  • After the new quests and combat rework, the team will focus on episode 5, PvP, trading.

  • New quest 1 that Samuel made has "the best reward ever"

  • Team is looking at the best way to improve all gathering skills

  • It is possible the team adds professions to existing episodes in the future

Edit: The final bullet contradicts what Samuel previously said in an interview with Tel on his Brighter Shores podcast, so it is unclear currently if the team would or would not add professions to previous episodes. Personally, I imagine it's just not entirely ruled out by Andrew, in case of some dire need in the future to fix an unknown issue. But they have no existing plans to add professions like this.
