How do you exclusively breastfeed?

Hello I was just wondering how exactly do you exclusively breastfeed? Right now I breastfeed but then I also pump not sure if it'll make a difference but I am an oversupplier. My LO is 8months old. Usually I will feed on my right side and then pump out the left side(for some reason he only latched to my right but I know as he's gotten older I can get him to latch on both sides so it wouldn't be an issue to feed on either side.) I would like to be able to completely stop pumping and only feed on demand. I just wasn't sure how you breastfeed only. Do you feed on both sides in one feeding? Do you feed only on one side then do the other breast the next time if so do you empty that other side out they didn't feed on or just leave it?
