Afrika Korps weapons question

I picked up a box of Afrika Korps awhile back and while I like the sculpts there are only 4 rifle arm configurations and I like to try and make each figure unique as possible. I have other kits with stg-44 arms and Panzer fausts. Did Afrika Korps use them? I know those weapons are predominantly mid to late but I've read mixed things on if the Afrika Korps used them.
