things i wish i knew before bocconi
things i wish i knew before coming to bocconi (i would’ve still picked it tho)
- you will do a lot of USELESS math if you’re biemf.
- you need to memorise too much information. get ready for that before. they mostly care about how well you can memorise
- milan is not bad at all. the vibes in the city are nice, and going to school in a city like milan is awesome
- get ready for the strikes. about once a month there are public transport strikes
- for clickday, you will most probably wont have to chance to choose. don’t waste a lot of time making lists. also, do not rely 100% on clickday. there is a great chance you won’t get a room.
- the dorms at bocconi are lowkey shit, but affordable compared to the rest of the apartments around bocconi. do not come with huge expectations.
- take the icdl in high school if you’re biemf. please!
- get ready to get annoyed. some professors struggle with english
- start studying for the exams in time and do not compare yourself to others (everyone talks about the exams all the time)
- milan is not as dangerous as they say. just be aware of your surroundings all the time.
- during fall, it rains A LOT
- bocconi is very theoretical. you wont have any freedom and curiosity is not really supported. you just have to memorise memorise memorise. even the group projects (which are not that common) are pretty meh
- please try not to fall behind from the first weeks
- flights from milan to almost any country in europe are very cheap and most of the time attendance is not mandatory 😉 you know what i mean go explore europe!
- as an undergrad, you wont have classes in the fancy buildings bocconi keeps posting on social media. most of your classes will be in the old ones but they re not that bad.
these are just some of my takes. nevertheless, bocconi is a great school. take advantage of the opportunities it gives you.
