Hitting Gerhman after killing Mergot’s Wet Nurse also triggers the ending where he joins the hunt

I finished my first playthrough of the game just minutes ago. I was aware of all the possible endings, and tbh I wanted to choose the ending where you take Gerhman’s place, so I would’ve refused his offer to wake up either way. But I just slashed at him without pressing the talk button, and it immediately triggered the ending where he joined the hunt.
