What is a gank?

If I invade a world and the team fights back I don't consider that a gank. A gank is an organized squad that killed the PvE and taunts invaders into a unwinnable environment.They usually have a magic spammer and sometimes they hide. If I co-op I'm not going easy on an invader. If I invade I'm ruthless to the team. Thoughts?
