Beginner Badminton Classes/Coach/Friends in LA

I'm looking to learn how to play badminton properly (I only played during PE in school) and I've been struggling to find classes for beginners or friends to play with in LA.

I plan on signing up for the LACC class starting next month, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone could suggest classes or play badminton with me over the weekends. I know that there are badminton clubs in SGV, but the drive seems a little daunting. I prefer to stay in central LA or west LA area if possible!
