Root canal and numbness the day after procedure

I had a root canal done on Wednesday (2 hour long procedure and have to go back in 3 months to finish it). The next evening (yesterday) a little over 24 hours after I left the dentist my face starred to go numb on the same side that the root canal is on. It starred from the middle of my bottom lip and worked it's way to my cheek. I'm afraid my dentist office is closed on Fridays but will call them in a few hours. Is this something I should be worried about. My pain is also worse than it was yesterday. If I can't reach my dentist today is it okay to let this go all weekend?

I don't drink or smoke and I didn't chew on that side since the procedure. Other than being 6 months post partum I don't have any other health issues.
