Expiring flight credit

Attempted to use a flight credit that according to the American website expires 2/28/2025. My hope was to use it for a flight in July. When I attempted to use it I was told I need to call American. After calling I found out that the reason it can’t be used for my July flight was due to the fact that it doesn’t just expire on Feb 28th 2025, it actually has to be used for a flight on or before 2/28/2025. Any ideas on how I could possibly extend and or utilize this flight credit?
