Which Akron Suburb to Move To?

Hey Everyone!

So after spending eight years in our Stow home we are on the market for a new house. My husband and I really like Stow, but I feel like every house that comes on the market is an older build that isn’t really our style (and yes, I know that Stow is the land of duplexes and split-level homes; we have a split-level right now and we desperately need more space).

I’m really torn on what areas to look in for a new house. While we both have lived in the area for about 10 years now, my husband is from out of state and I am a Mahoning County native so I don’t know the true ins and outs of each city/town. Plus we have two little boys now that will be starting school in the next few years so I want to make sure they end up in a good school district.

My husband has a well paying job, but we are still solidly middle class so Hudson/Richfield would be really pushing our housing budget. I like the location of Cuyahoga Falls since it’s so central to everything, but I heard the schools aren’t the best. If we end up leaving Stow, we want to end up somewhere where my husband still has an easy commute to his job in Barberton and I can still easily access Stow/Hudson from the new house so we can keep our children’s current doctors, dentists, etc.

We have been really eyeing Tallmadge due to its proximity to the above; plus it shaves the hour journey to get to my parents house to 45 minutes. Is Tallmadge a nice community to live in? I like that it is a little quieter than Stow but still close to all of our creature comforts.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
