Walter - theory compilation

Please excuse my writing style here, I'm super tired and my writing abilities are that of a nine year old 😅.)

Okay, so something about Walter in the last episode triggered a whole flurry of analysis.

It's when misty says he doesnt have any friends, and his face darkens. And not like because his feelings were hurt. But like he was enraged, and his mask slipped.

First, lets establish that hes not on her side. Although he seems to adore her, there's lots of clues that hes actually her antagonist:

  • "I'm a lonely moriarty looking for his sherlock." Moriarty and sherlock were enemies.

  • The cute split screen in season 2 of them getting ready for bed seemed to show that they were similar, but there were subtitle hints that Walter is preying on her (eg. Misty has a bird on as her phone screensaver, Walter has a cat (killer of birds. ))

He jokes with misty early on that he "killed someone," but then really does kill kevyn tan in books blood, so he's not the sweet heart he presents himself as.

His name is probably not his name - Tattersall is a character in the inheritance games books - and old billionaire who manipulates people. (And tattersall isn't even HIS real name - he changed it to provide a clue to people. )

His back story is shady (I'm a millionaire living off a settlement for a traumatic brain injury.)

Although there is a suggestion he may really have been / is sick (his citizen detective username is "puttingtheSICKinforensics."

So, who is Walter Tattersall?

His mask slipped when misty mentioned his lack of friends, so I'd say someone the yellowjackets killed was his bestie. (Note that he comforts misty when she kills nat and says "i killed my best friend. ")

So who was the bestie?

I'm loving the Melissa-was-his-sister theory, so maybe it's her.

Or, maybe it's Adam Martin.

Adam's story annoyed me because it felt unfinished, but maybe that's because it is.

Misty and Walter connect because they're discussing the Adam Martin disappearance. Adam has that weird (cool) wilderness tattoo.

One thing that struck me is that Adam mentioned he's a bone marrow donor... and then Walter apparently has this steel plate in his head. Did Adam donate bone marrow to Walter?

But this doesn't feel big enough either. I feel like he has to be connected to the survivors too, but the "friend" thing is a big clue.

Also, I suddenly have a weird feeling that Walter killed Travis. That story was never cleared up - Nat died without finding out what happened to him. We also still don't know who sent the postcards.

Let's get on it, citizen detectives! Who the f*** is Walter?
