Want to get into welding, where do I start?

Hi! I really want to get into welding as a career, but I’m not sure how to start. I’m 16 and currently a junior, I also live in the Atlanta area in GA. I’m not sure if I’m too young for classes or too young to learn but I’d really like to try my hand at it. What are the first steps I should take or things I should start doing? Thanks for any and all advice!
